Mission :

As part of the development of a major mining project in Ecuador, and following the success of an initial collaboration on participatory social risk analysis, Lundin Gold requested Insuco’s continued technical assistance regarding the implementation of social management processes and the facilitation of local consultation frameworks. This collaboration falls within the framework of Corporate Territorial Responsibility (CTR), formalized by Insuco, which seeks to promote sustainable and inclusive territorial governance.

Résultat :

The collaboration, which has been ongoing for over three years, has resulted in the following activities:

• Strengthening the client’s social investment strategy and supporting the updating of the community relations strategy
• Support for using the stakeholder mapping tool, definition of management indicators and simple monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, to facilitate decision-making
• Development of frameworks for consultation and collective action, through the implementation every 6 weeks of “thematic roundtables”, which address the following topics: employability, local entrepreneurship opportunities, community and moral values, productive development, road safety and infrastructure, environmental responsibility, tourism development, inter-institutional coordination
• Facilitation and support of the thematic roundtable process, which includes, among other things, mobilizing stakeholders at the local level, monitoring commitments made by each stakeholder, supporting the formulation of projects by local stakeholders, and aligning with various territorial planning tools
• Systematization of the process and information management
• Participatory measurement of the results and impacts of the process
• Support for communication and visibility of the process at the territorial, national and international levels
