Mission:
Over a period of 24 months, a multidisciplinary team of eight specialists, including international experts and local social coordinators, implemented a comprehensive social management strategy. The mission consisted of developing the social studies for the Stage 2A pre-feasibility phase, ensuring that all community and social requirements were meticulously documented and addressed.
Key activities performed by Insuco included:
- Commitment Management: Reviewing and updating all existing social commitments to ensure they remained relevant and achievable.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identifying and documenting the expectations of local stakeholders to align the closure plan with community needs.
- Impact and Risk Assessment: Conducting a thorough evaluation of social and community risks to design effective mitigation strategies.
- Strategic Mapping: Developing a comprehensive stakeholder map and a tailored communication plan to maintain transparent dialogue throughout the process.
- Socioeconomic Analysis: Identifying potential impacts on local livelihoods and proposing strategies to support a fair transition.
Results:
The mission resulted in two major strategic deliverables:
- Social Transition Plan (STP): A roadmap designed to manage the shift from an active mining economy to a sustainable post-closure scenario.
- Engagement Plan (EP): A framework for maintaining continuous and constructive relationships with local actors.
