Development of teaching materials and delivery of a training programme to strengthen and promote the positioning of women as leaders in the Ecuadorian mining sector

Mission:
The objective of the training programme is to strengthen and promote the position of women in the mining sector through the development and implementation of a specialised training programme that generates a new perspective on the role of women in positions of power, laying the foundations for a support network among women at the national and international levels, fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thus becoming ambassadors for the Ecuadorian mining sector. The programme is conducted virtually, through Moodle, and trains a total of 120 women. Insuco is responsible for developing teaching materials, structuring thematic modules and teaching classes for the following modules: i) Society, Culture and Gender; and 4) Leadership and Public Management.
Results:
The Insuco team integrated participatory methodologies that encouraged peer‑to‑peer learning, fostered a safe environment for dialogue, and promoted the creation of a lasting support network among women professionals in the mining sector. Additionally, the programme’s contents were enriched and strengthened by Insuco’s previous experience in conducting gender equity analyses and diagnostics in the mining and energy sectors in Peru and Colombia.
