Update of the Social and Environmental Impact Study and Management Plan
Client : Alufer/Bel Air Mining project
Mission:
Bel Air Mining is a private company focused on bauxite mining in Guinea. It obtained, the 3rd May of 2010 a 3-year exploration permit next to the Verga cape, in the Prefecture of Boffa. The “Bel-Air South” permit spreads on a 417km2 surface. Bel Air Mining decided to start its production phase in 2016 and needed to update its Social and Environmental Impact Study and Management Plan with regards to the new project design.
Results:
Firstly, the mission analysed the 2011 studies in order to underline the gaps to be filled to be compliant with the IFC standards. Secondly, complementary studies were achieved to ensure the compliance of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and the Social and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) of the project.
