Technical assistance for the social baseline and migration surveys, co-development of the social monitoring framework, and associated capacity building for the Lomphat REDD+ project, in accordance with the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity (CCB) Gold Standard certification

Mission:
In Cambodia, BirdLife and its national Partner, NatureLife Cambodia, are leading the Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary REDD+ Project in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment. Located in the Eastern Plains Landscape, this initiative focuses on finalising and implementing a CCB-aligned social monitoring framework and conducting baseline socio-economic and migration surveys. The project aims to secure sustainable forest protection through carbon financing while supporting local communities and conserving critical biodiversity.
In Indonesia, BirdLife is working with its Partner, Burung Indonesia, in the Mbeliling Landscape on Flores Island to design and establish an integrated social and biodiversity monitoring framework. The project builds on years of community-based conservation and aims to strengthen agroforestry, enhance ecosystem service payments, and prepare for potential REDD+ financing. With strong local governance and district-level support, the initiative seeks to formally recognise Mbeliling as an OECM (Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measure), ensuring long-term ecological and economic resilience.
