Mission :

The mission was to develop a working document that would generate discussion and highlight various questions between RIMSP and its partners regarding territorial dialogue processes and the effective participation of high-impact private sector actors in these processes. The objectives were therefore to:

• To produce a conceptual and analytical framework that allows us to address these processes and highlight different questions for future proposals or research projects.
• Identify lessons learned from a review of existing literature, Insuco’s experience in facilitating these processes in the region, and formalize various case studies.
• Determine what role RIMSP could play in the analysis and potential support of these dialogue processes

Résultat :

In collaboration with RIMSP, Insuco produced a detailed working paper presenting reflections and case studies that illustrate the need to promote dialogue to shift from a “transactional approach” to a “transformational approach.” This approach goes beyond mere legal compliance in managing socio-environmental conflicts and includes a context and different typologies of conflicts between businesses and communities. The paper aims to generate initial reflections on territorial dialogue processes and to highlight questions for future research, thereby enriching the ongoing discussion on the effectiveness of these processes in Latin America with new perspectives.
