Research and Analysis of Social Conflict and Human Rights Violations in PDET Territories under the “Defensoría a la Mano” Program in Colombia

Client: Defensoría del Pueblo Colombia (Office of the Ombudsman)
Services: Studies

Mission:

Insuco was engaged to conduct a comprehensive analysis of social conflict and its relationship with human rights violations in PDET territories under the Defensoría a la Mano program. The client expected rigorous, evidence-based insights to identify patterns of conflict, understand their drivers, and assess their direct and indirect impacts on communities, with a view to strengthening prevention and institutional response strategies. Our multidisciplinary team combined expertise in social research, human rights, and territorial analysis, applying both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The mission included a review of secondary information, the design of data collection instruments, and extensive fieldwork through surveys and interviews with affected populations and key stakeholders. Particular emphasis was placed on incorporating a territorial, differential, and rights-based approach to capture the complexity of post-conflict dynamics.

Results:

Key deliverables included a detailed work plan, analytical databases, and a comprehensive research report integrating findings on social conflict, mapping of human rights violations, and evaluation of their impacts. The study also produced visual and analytical tools such as maps, heatmaps, and assessment matrices to support interpretation and decision-making.
