Promotion of Inclusion and Accountability in the REDD+ Emission Reduction Program in Dominican Republic

Mission:
The project implemented a capacity building strategy for non-governmental and governmental REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) Implementing Entities on social inclusion and gender, as well as increasing the capacity of civil society to monitor transparency and accountability in the deployment of climate finance flows.
Results:
The project was articulated around the following components:
– Component 1: Improving social inclusion and capacity building of local non-profit organisations.
– Component 2: Promote gender equality in government entities involved in emission reduction programmes.
– Component 3: Enhance civil society capacity to monitor transparency and accountability in the implementation of climate finance flows.
Insuco implemented the following activities:
– Designing the Capacity Building Plan
– Development of content for the implementation of capacity building workshops
– Training workshops – for NGOs
– Mapping and assessment of civil society organisations for future operations
– Gender Sensitisation Sessions for Public Sector Executing Agencies
– Technical assistance workshops and meetings with implementing entities for the implementation of the Gender Action Plan.
– Production of a publication on the contribution of women in value chains and communication materials
– Adaptation of monitoring to climate finance
– Training of the selected organisation on the climate action fund tracking tool.
