Design of a Livelihood Restoration/ Compensation Plan
Client : Antea on behalf of Millennium Challenge Corporation
Mission:
After signing a contract with the Niger government, MCC has planned to fund several projects to develop the national agricultural sector, including building/rehabilitating roads and irrigation canals. In some cases these projects require the Resettlement of people and/or land losses. Insuco has been responsible to design a Livelihoods Compensation Plan in order for the client to compensate the losses induced by the project, including irrigated land losses.
Results:
The methodology, strategic plan involving all stakeholders and the Resettlement Action Plan, among other elements, were discussed together with the client as the activities were implemented. The client received a final geo-referenced database that includes all the affected households, their impacted lands and goods, as well as a report containing the Livelihoods Compensation Plan.
