Impact study of the intake and discharge of water from the thermal power plant on fishing activity and fishermen of Taboth – CIPREL 5

Client : ATINKOU S.A.

Region / Country: Africa | Ivory Coast
Sectors: Energy
Services: Studies

Mission:

This sociological study began with a delineation of the banks controlled by Taboth and the extent of the area of activity. It made it possible to better understand the fishing activity as it is currently practiced. The consultant described very precisely all the activities practiced by the fishermen, the methods and tools used, the seasonality of their activities, the income generated, the people involved, etc. This careful analysis was then accurately mapped. At the same time, the expert cross-referenced the mapping of fishing activities with the one of the power plant’s planned discharge infrastructures in order to determine their impacts.

Results:

The following deliverables were provided to the client:

  • A file containing all the GPS coordinates and their correspondence;
  • A cartographic analysis report;
  • A report analyzing the data collected in the field.
