A rapid assessment of public perception of the Condor Project in Jericó (Antioquia) to evaluate social risks based on the views of key local stakeholders regarding the Quebradona mining project operated by the mining company AngloGold Ashanti (AGA).

Mission:
Insuco was engaged to conduct a rapid social perception assessment of the Cóndor mining project in Jericó, Antioquia, with the aim of providing the client with a clear understanding of how key local stakeholders perceive the project and its potential social implications. The client expected timely, evidence-based insights to identify perceptions, concerns, and emerging social risks that could affect project acceptance and long-term viability. Our multidisciplinary team applied qualitative and participatory methods, combining stakeholder mapping, media and documentary review, and field-based data collection through interviews and focus groups with key local actors, including community representatives and institutional stakeholders. This approach ensured a comprehensive understanding of the diversity of viewpoints and underlying drivers of perception in the territory.
Results:
Key deliverables included a detailed analysis of stakeholder perceptions, identification and classification of social risks based on local dynamics, a structured mapping and valuation of key actors, and the compilation of primary data collection tools. The study also provided strategic conclusions and recommendations aimed at supporting the client’s engagement and risk management strategy.
