Consolidation of governance in the territory with large-scale mining industry presence through data, dialogue and leadership.

Client: Lundin Gold

Mission:

The assignment was to strengthen territorial governance in a parish with a large-scale mining industry presence in the Ecuadorian Amazon, where a multi-stakeholder dialogue process has been institutionalized since 2016. This was based on three axes, the first was to strengthen the platform of dialogue from a more proactive logic; this is from society itself and the local authority as facilitators of the dialogue process, by strengthening their capacities in an electoral context that will provoke changes at the local level.  The second was to strengthen local leadership and positive voices, in dialogue and governance skills, data and communication, and environment; this is for the sustainability of the process, the creation of active citizenship and the effective promotion of territorial development.  The third, focused on data, was to facilitate agile learning processes and evidence-based dialogue outcomes that adapt to the diversity of the territorial context and maturity level of the dialogue; promoting active and informed participation as a basis for the development of territories.

Results:

Insuco implemented the following activities:

  • Preparing for the transition of local authorities
  • Positioning and strategic communication of the results of the dialogue
  • Preparation of future leaders
  • Enhance the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system
  • Strengthening the link between Observatories of Territorial Transformation and working groups
