Diagnosis of the needs of microentrepreneurs in a post-COVID context in Peru

Jun 2021 | News from Insuco

In early 2021, Insuco Peru collaborated to the development of The Ignite initiative – unleashing the power of entrepreneurs, which is implemented by Care Peru at the peruvian national level, as part of a global alliance focused on leveraging the power of Micro and Small Enterprises and their hard-working, struggling, and aspiring owners (Strivers), with particular attention given to the needs of women entrepreneurs. The project consisted in the elaboration of a diagnosis of the main needs of microentrepreneurs in a post-COVID context, based on the recruitment of profiles and the collection of qualitative information. The diagnosis was characterized by using a resilience and gender approach, which sought to identify the strategies used by the participants to develop their businesses in challenging contexts, facing different types of issues and barriers.

Through a characterization of the business activities, barriers and strategies adopted to cope with the COVID-19 crisis, Insuco Peru was able to generate a participatory business diagnosis of the financing needs of microentrepreneurs in 7 regions of the country, which allows identifying future actions for the development of their businesses.

Thanks to the Care Peru teams for their trust and for this fruitful collaboration!
