Recent and ongoing projects

Mission:

The mission consisted of performing a rigorous ex-post evaluation of the Fuerabamba resettlement process through a multi-dimensional approach. The Insuco team, composed of social specialists, GIS experts, and field supervisors, executed the project over 65 days. The work began with an exhaustive analysis of existing studies, resettlement plans, and progress reports to establish a historical baseline. Insuco then designed a comprehensive monitoring system to evaluate the current living conditions of the resettled groups.

Field activities were central to the mission, involving the implementation of participation mechanisms where relocated families could directly share their perspectives. The team conducted household surveys and interviews to characterize the current socio-economic status of each beneficiary home. A key component of the mission was the benchmarking of the process against international best practices, specifically the IFC Performance Standards and ICMM guidelines.

Results:

The following deliverables were provided:

• Work Plan and Methodological Guidelines: Detailed approach for field deployment and variable matrix.
• Preliminary Report: Synthesized timeline of resettlement milestones and normative context.
• Field Data Report: Database of interviewed actors and socioeconomic survey results.
• Technical Report: Detailed planimetric and altimetric details of the host area, along with a comparative analysis of international compliance.
• Evaluation Report: Analysis of the effects (positive and negative) on the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the households compared to the original mitigation programs.

Finally, Insuco identified risks and opportunities, delivering a plan for improvement that included specific recommendations and timelines to ensure the long-term sustainability of the resettlement project.
