Consultancy for the second phase of the implementation of gender equality guidelines for the mining and energy sector in Colombia
Mission:
Insuco, in partnership with CoreWoman, was engaged to support the implementation of gender equity guidelines in Colombia’s mining and energy sector. The client expected practical tools, evidence-based analysis, and strengthened coordination mechanisms to advance gender equality across diverse subsectors and territories. Our multidisciplinary team combined expertise in gender, public policy, and extractive industries to work closely with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and key stakeholders. The mission focused on consolidating the public-private collaboration platform established in Phase I, conducting a subsectoral gender study for informal, subsistence, and small-scale mining, and developing a sustainable indicator dashboard to monitor progress. A pilot initiative was also implemented at the local level to strengthen institutional capacities and test the application of the guidelines in practice.
Results:
Key deliverables included a detailed work plan, a comprehensive gender-focused study, an updated indicator matrix and monitoring tools, materials to support the collaboration platform, outputs from the pilot project, and a final report with strategic recommendations.
