Final evaluation of the e-Kakashi AI rice farming project assessing efficiency, climate adaptation, implementation performance, and sustainability under the IDB-funded program in Colombia

Mission:
Insuco was commissioned to conduct an independent final evaluation of the e-Kakashi project, providing a comprehensive assessment of its relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability. The client expected robust, evidence-based findings on project performance, the quality of implementation, and the extent to which AI-based tools contributed to improved agronomic decision-making and climate resilience in rice production. The evaluation engaged a wide range of stakeholders, including the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT as the contracting entity, the implementing rice company, regional operators, agronomists, farmers, and members of the project’s advisory bodies. Insuco’s multidisciplinary team combined expertise in evaluation, agriculture, climate change, and stakeholder engagement.
Results:
Key deliverables included a detailed fieldwork plan, a preliminary evaluation report, and a final report presenting validated findings, lessons learned, and actionable recommendations. These outputs were designed to support strategic decision-making, strengthen future project design, and inform potential scaling of digital agriculture solutions.
