Evaluation of the West Mébon temple restoration project at Angkor (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Mission:
As part of the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI) 2017-14 project “Angkor: restoration, heritage development and training”, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) has subsidized a restoration project of the Western Mebon temple, in partnership with the Cambodian APSARA National Authority (ANA).
The MEAE wishes to evaluate the work carried out over the last six years and has mandated Insuco to carry out this evaluation.
This study aims to evaluate the direct effects of the three FSPI “Angkor: restoration, heritage development and training” phase I, phase II and phase III, which participated in the restoration efforts of the Western Mebon temple.
Insuco carried out the following services:
- draw up a consolidated assessment of the actions carried out within the framework of the project,
- evaluate the performance of the project and its various components,
- establish conclusions and main lessons
- to make recommendations aimed at:
- Increase site efficiency,
- Improve collaboration methods,
- Optimize the positive impact of the construction site and the tourism project,
- Define a new direction for training needs.
Results:
The following deliverables have been submitted to the client:
- Evaluation scoping report
- Final evaluation report including evaluation matrix and recommendations
- Reports of consultations
