INSUCO, with funding from The Organisaton of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), has provided the advisory service for the update of the National Risk Management Plan of the Dominican Republic, through a process comprising 3 major steps over 10 months.
The results of these steps were: the updating of the National Risk Management Plan in collaboration with the National Technical Committee for Risk Prevention and Mitigation (CTNPM), the development of the rules of the Technical Committee and the training of committee members according to the specialization needs identified during the service.
The main objective of this service was to strengthen the risk management and climate change adaptation capacities of the National System of Prevention, Mitigation and Response and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MIMARENA) of the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n

To achieve these objectives, Insuco has implemented the following activities:
– Analysis of the regulatory framework and existing information on risk management in the country,
– Focus groups with stakeholders,
– In-depth interviews with local authorities and other stakeholders,
– National risk management plan updated,
– Review and analysis of the administrative procedures, roles and responsibilities of the Technical Committee for Prevention and Risk Reduction,
– Convening and networking,
– Drafting of the rules of procedure of the Technical Committee for Risk Prevention and Reduction,
– Development of a five-year work plan for the Technical Committee on Risk Prevention and Mitigation,
– Capacity building and training.<\/p>\n
