The French Development Agency (AFD) has planned to grant a credit to the city of Barranquilla. Within this framework, the AFD, in collaboration with the Secretariat in charge of Planning and Development, is preparing a monitoring matrix of public policies and investment objectives based on the Development Plan Soy Barranquilla 2020-2023 (I am Barranquilla 2020-2023).<\/p>\n

Thus, the main objective of the Simplified Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment, elaborated by Insuco, is to analyze the policies pre-selected by AFD, with the aim of identifying the environmental and social challenges related such policies and the investments that will be supported by the AFD during its assistance to the implementation of the Soy Barranquilla 2020-2023 Development Plan.<\/p>\n

The study carried out by Insuco focused on the two following axes of the Development Plan: a first axis entitled Soy Biodiverciudad and which includes the Policy for a Sustainable City, the Urban Environmental Protection Policy and the Environmental Risks Mitigation Policy; a second axis entitled Soy Equitativa and which includes the Education Policy of the city, the Policy for Decent Housing for All, the Policy for the Promotion of Social Inclusion and the Policy for a Safer City and the Protection of Human Rights.<\/p>\n

  • Preliminary Report #1: review of secondary information; preliminary analysis of policies prioritized by the AFD; proposed EASE matrix;<\/li>\n
  • Preliminary Report #2: methodology to develop the SESA (review of secondary information, data collection, definition of criteria to evaluate impacts, assessment of environmental importance); preliminary results;<\/li>\n
  • Final Report of the Simplified Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment: the main result of the SESA is a clear vision of the environmental and social challenges, and the actions that should be implemented to guarantee the integration and mitigation of such challenges within the policies of the Development Plan and the investments of the AFD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
