The mission consisted in carrying out a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in order to provide a detailed analysis of the environmental and social issues associated with the economic development of the northern coastal zone of Guinea. The objective of the study is also to strengthen the procedures and instruments for framing and conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), to improve the environmental and social commitment and responsibility of private sector actors and, finally, to improve the capacities of national institutions for environmental and social monitoring and management of risks arising from rapid development in a naturally fragile and exposed area.<\/p>\n
