On March 15, 2021, we began the implementation of the environmental and social due diligence of the management of the Madidi Park in Bolivia. This study is financed by KfW and seeks to identify existing gaps and risks with respect to compliance with international environmental and social standards, and to design an action plan in order to tackle it.<\/p>\n

The mission is part of the preliminary assessment process for the financing of protected areas by the Legacy Landscape Fund (LLF), a joint initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Development Bank (KfW), the French Development Agency (AFD), Campaign for Nature (CfN), the Frankgurt Zooligal Society (FZS), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).<\/p>\n

Insuco’s team and its local partners from CEP (Centro de Estudios y Proyectos<\/em>) have been executing a participatory analysis process in Madidi Park, which includes virtual and face-to-face meetings with several key stakeholders from the public, private and civil society sectors.<\/p>\n

** The Madidi National Park and Integrated Management Natural Area is located between the provinces of Abel Iturralde and Franz Tamayo, in the northwestern part of the Department of La Paz. It borders other protected areas such as the Apolobamba Integrated Management Natural Area, the Pil\u00f3n Lajas Biosphere Reserve and Communal Lands and, to the west, Peru’s Tambopata National Reserve and Bahuaja Sonene National Park<\/em>.<\/p>\n
