We are pleased to announce the publication of the study Contrasting Impacts of the Security Crisis on the Land Tenure Situation in the Lake Chad Region<\/strong>, elaborated within the framework of the RESILAC project (Lake Chad Inclusive Economic and Social Recovery<\/em><\/strong>) \u2013 a project co-financed by the European Union<\/strong> (Emergency Trust Fund for Africa) and the French Development Agency<\/strong> (AFD) for a period of 4 years (2018-2021), and implemented by an international consortium (Action Against Hunger – leader, CARE and URD Group) in partnership with the CCFD – Terre Solidaire network, Search For Common Ground and local organizations in the four countries of intervention.<\/p>\n

Carried out between January and July 2020, the objective of this study is to identify approaches and practices that are effective in building resilience<\/strong> and to formulate recommendations<\/strong> with regard to the activities implemented in the field. In this sense, the study analyzes the impact of the security crisis on land tenure dynamics in the Lake Chad region (Chad, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon<\/strong>), in order to specify the frameworks, local land tenure situations and impacts of the security crisis according to the proximity to the epicenter of the crisis. The territories observed in the RESILAC intervention areas included the periphery of Maiduguri, the LGA of Jere, the rural communes of Ch\u00e9timari and N’Guigmi, the canton of Nguelea (in the rural commune of Baga Sola) and the rural communes of Bol, Koza, Mindif and Dargala.<\/p>\n

The study, whose methodology consisted of an analysis of land tenure systems at national and local levels based on a literature review and field investigations (survey of 496 people<\/strong>, spread over 9 territories<\/strong> and 4 countries<\/strong>, as well as interviews with key territorial actors), was conducted by Insuco, which mobilized a multidisciplinary team of experts, under the direction of Dr. Christine Raimond.<\/p>\n
