Social Impact Assessment (SIA) - SNC Lavalin (for a Vale group mining project)

Mission:

To carry out the socio-economic baseline studies and social impact assessments for an iron ore project including two mines (150km away from each other) and a railroad (crossing two countries).

  • To produce statistical data in a context where agricultural, economic, social, health, education and infrastructure data are non-existent,
  • To assess and measure impacts for the construction, mining and closure phases,
  • To propose impact monitoring and evaluation indicators
  • To propose operational mitigation measures
Results:

The client received an SIA that complies with international and national standards as well as an operational and effective impact monitoring and mitigation tool. The document was validated by the government.
